SURVIVAL VIOLIN PROJECT

The Survival Violin is made with wood debris returned from the sea to the beaches of Rikuzentakata city, in the Iwate Prefecture, after the earthquake). The Survival Violin Project brings its message of peace, environmental sustainability, and provides encouragement for all those who were victims of the Tohoku Great Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011. Giuseppe Devastato, internationally acclaimed pianist and composer has endorsed this project and has dedicated a new composition to the survival violin project to be performed by Ms. Tajihi during the world tour. Violinist Sumiko Tajihi has been acclaimed widely for her, “not only passionate tone but full of warmhearted…” (Western Journal/Japan). “Every single bit of tune Sumiko creates is like human voices”, (La stampa/Italy. Giuseppe Devastato is a pianist and composer recognized by international critics as one of the most exciting pianists of his generation. He currently teaches Master Classes at the Academy of Music “Katarina Gurska” of Madrid, in Europe and America; works as a composer for the film industry and is Artistic Director of the piano academy “Neapolitan Music Society” of New York.
